James T. Freeman
Jim serves as the Executive Director of Lutheran Social Services of North Florida, Inc. As the
driving force behind the agency since 1993, he has seen the agency grow from less than $2,000 in
assets to over $4.5 million in real property serving the homeless in our community, including the
development of the French Quarter and Magnolia Village.
Before returning to his home state of Florida in 1993, Jim served as the Executive Director of the
Sherman Park Community Association in Milwaukee, WI (1989 -1991) and as a Lay Minister of the Lutheran
Church-Missouri Synod (1977-1989). He is a 1977 graduate of Concordia College Wisconsin.
Jim, as a founding member of United Partners for Human Services, was recognized for his tireless support
of the non-profit human services sector in our community with the 2005 Above and Beyond Award. He
currently serves as the Treasurer of UPHS and as a board member of Rainbow Rehab Inc., and continues
to encourage other human service agencies by providing free office space and promoting the sharing
of resources.
