Darryl Eugene Jones

Darryl Jones is presently employed as the Program Manager of the Bethel Community Development Corporation, an agency devoted to providing affordable housing throughout Southside Tallahassee for low-income first-time homeowners and is an affiliate ministry of the Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church.

Darryl Jones was formerly employed as a Senior Training Specialist with the Institute on Urban Policy and Commerce (IUPC) at Florida A&M University. In this position, Darryl Jones was responsible for instructing dislocated workers on self-employment opportunities and entrepreneurship. During his employment, Darryl Jones and the Institute had been responsible for creating well over thirty new businesses located in the historic African American communities of Frenchtown, Apalachee Ridge, Southside, Bond, and Springfield.

In addition, Darryl was actively involved with faith-based initiatives sponsored by the IUPC to include advocacy, grants management and program evaluation. His career has been devoted to economic development programs created to change the quality of people's lives. His empathy for the underserved has made a difference in the lives of individuals, families, and organizations, particularly those found in Southside Tallahassee.

Darryl Jones is a community servant having volunteered on a variety of Boards of Directors to include the Big Bend Fair Housing Agency, the United Partners for Human Services, the Leadership Tallahassee Board of Governors, the FAMU Boosters and currently as chair of both Kids, Inc. of the Big Bend, and the Enterprise Zone Development Agency (EZDA) Board of Commissioners-an agency devoted to providing tools to spur economic development to include tax credit incentives, property tax exemptions, sales tax exemptions, et al.

For his work with the EZDA, Darryl Jones received the Tallahassee Democrat Volunteer of the Year Award.

Finally, Darryl is also the inaugural Vice Chairman of the Board for the Boys Choir of Tallahassee.

Darryl Jones is a native of Clearwater, FL and graduated from Florida A&M University with a degree in English. The local NAACP as a Black Achiever, his alma mater with the FAMU Rattler Pride President's Award and the Tallahassee Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority with its Community Leadership Award have each honored Darryl Jones for his extraordinary efforts on behalf of his community. He is also a member of Leadership Tallahassee Class XX and the Bethel AME Church where he serves as Church Clerk and former chair pro tempore of the Board of Stewards II.
